You can start your own threads if you have a particular prediction or theory that you'd like to get started, but here I'm kicking it off by asking if there's a theory--substantiated or not--that you've been hoping to have confirmed or denied? It's always fun to see what readers have been wondering!

New pet theory:
A goldfish is not a pet since there is actually no petting involved.
On a different note; why is a person that makes ceramic pots not called a baker? There's an oven and they do bake stuff that they sometimes glaze. And who amongst us has not seen a quite delicious bowl that they just had to have? Though, I guess those are closer to culinary queries than a pet theories.

I am pretty certain that you fire pots rather than baking them. Which is not the same thing at all. Baker's ovens are the wrong shape for making pottery.

I am pretty certain that you fire pots rather than baking them. Which is not the same thing at all. Baker's ovens are the wrong shape for making pottery. But I've heard the term "baked the clay" used on many occasions on public television. Google it, over 2 million hits.
Also, does the shape and size of the oven really matter? An Easy-Bake oven is a different size and shape from an oven in a bakery, but "bake" is right there in the title. Pizza ovens are a different size and shape, but I'd still say the person making the dessert pizzas, cheesecakes, and Baked Alaskas in that oven is still a baker. And what about old world bakers? Their ovens look like beehives, still bakers.
[...]
Hmm, I want an Easy-Bake oven now. One that I can prominently display in my office where all my friends can see and use it at will. I wonder if I could find a bulk deal online so I can give them as gifts and start and Easy-Bake gang.

Is the author going to tell us if any of these pet theories are correct?
