Where Would You Look?
Say your sibling or best friend had been out of communication with you for longer than usual. How long would that person have to be out of touch before you'd start to suspect that something was wrong? Do you think you know where your sibling or best friend would go first?

Well i can't speak for the whole sibling thing cause that's not applicable but in best friend territory i guess it would be in the realms of if they did not update online for a while; it's hard to know because sometimes people don't update for whatever reason but it doesn't necessarily always mean anythings happened to them or that the next day they will update or whatever but if it was for like a while (cannot say specific timing because people have busy lives they might have a lot of stuff on or gone on holiday, visiting relatives etc) then that would seem as though 'where are they?'. And probably you'd have people saying after even a short time where is someone if they don't come online or post when they supposedly 'should' so that would happen with some people probably sooner than anyone expected anyway. If anything seemed suspicious obviously there would be family/friends etc close by in real life who would be able to take action: look around/walk around/drive and seek out where someone is and maybe know what is happening in real time to see if someone is safe so there would be the good feeling to know there is the support system where they are to be able to know and do stuff!
It would seem uncharacteristic for them to just go away without saying anything or not reply to anyone checking up they're okay, so if there was an uneasy feeling then it would feel like something was wrong and that would of course mean that perhaps it would be impossible to say WHERE they'd gone because maybe something terrible has happened like abduction or whatever, but always there is just the possibility that people have to go somewhere and i think people really do forget that not everyone is sitting online 24/7 that they have stuff to do outside of online, and that things can happen outside online, so i realise that and probably am more calm about absence online because of this, if there was a bad feeling or discussions etc then would surely try to find out what was going on and hope to help in any way of course, I would be very worried and want to join forces with everyone to be able to have a good outcome. It is just awful to think even hypothetically of something bad or the unknown happening.

"Where would they go first" is an interesting question but it's not necessarily a meaningful one.
If my siblings or my friends were angry and just didn't want to talk to me I could probably find them. At home, at a friend's house, at a favorite hangout, call my sister's fiance and ask him, etc. However if something was really wrong then they probably WOULDN'T be in any of the usual places (though I'd probably check those places first anyway.)

I think people would finally know I was missing if Negative One didn't update on time and there was no explanation. As for "where would they go first?" being an interesting but not necessarily meaningful question, it mainly depends on who the missing person might be hiding from. Clearly your sibling/friend wouldn't go to a place known as significant to both of you if it was YOU the person was trying to get away from. But if the person was missing, knowing what the trail might look like is helpful. My family followed a fairly long trail to track my sister when she went missing. And she was found. Long story, though, and not one that's appropriate to post about on the Internet. |
