Your Own Style
How important is your hairstyle to you? Do you spend a lot of time trying to make it look the way you like it, or do you just not pay attention to it? Have you had the same hairstyle for a long time, or do you like to change it often? What does it say about you?

Well, my hair? Heh, I love my hair! I don't get bed head per se, I get anime hair. When I wake up, my sleep gymnastics have sculpted it into something new and interesting. When I shower it hangs in cool, wavy tendrils. When I blow dry it out it is a giant puff ball. If I fail to manage it then it separates into a weird "hair trident fail" that resembles the hair of Didi Pickles from the Rugrats:
Or I can brush it straight up and go Saiyin:
And have had it braided, waved, twisted, and cornrowed. But, I like it best when it's damp or just out of braids and it most resembles my avatar.

Hairstyle isn't important to me at all really. My hair hangs down shaggily or it's tied up in a ponytail, sometimes it gets sprayed with colour but not very often cause that makes it sticky. No I don't spend a lot of time on it, just wash, shampoo, run a comb through and that's it basically.
This straight long haired style has been around since 2006. Before that it was tied back nearly always, now it alternates between being loose and being tied.
I used to have a fringe up until perhaps 2006 too. People used to question why I had a fringe all the time, contemplating reasons why it was there 'Maybe you're too afraid to get rid of it cause you think you'll look bad' (nooo, I just wanted to keep it at the time!) and it got annoying, just cause most people seemed to not have one they seemed to insinuate everyone who had one should morph into the crowd and cut it off which is silly; well I guess I did cause the fringe is gone, not having to get the ends cut anymore is a blessing and I think I looked ugly with it, but that's probably because of the positioning of certain photos rather than not looking normal with it cause obviously there was nothing wrong with it. I don't think they look bad ever on other people and they look quite good on others I just looked back on my own photos and always see ugh.
Hmmm... I'd like altogether different hair than I have but then again I'd like to be an altogether different person so that would go hand in hand. I'd like really short black or bleach blonde hair, maybe a bit spiky, to pull off with a good looking masculine face and a lovely beefy muscly male body much like the musician Shifty from the band 'Crazy Town', but we can't have everything we desire!.
Anyway, this hairstyle'll do. Might play around with it a bit and see if anything can be altered one day but am not stressing about it!
I think when people go to extreme lengths to style their hair by paying thousands of dollars in salons that it is ridiculous and their money could be better spent other places but they can do what they want, they're not harming anyone but their bank account, hehe. I'm often watching those reality 'makeover' shows where they have some 'dowdy' person getting a full transformation including their hair and I just think, "Well, you looked better before, what was wrong with your style before, just cause some bitch told you it didn't look good cause of preconceived notions". Probably a lot of hairstyle changes are done to impress the world, to look 'beautiful' or 'pretty' but people must realize they already are and really want to change because they are happy to look a certain way rather than 'this will impress people'. Hair really can make or break people and that's kinda scary. Sorry I watch too many of these makeover shows so I'm ranting. That's a whole other thread if it comes up one day! hehehe.

I've had the same hairstyle for a very long time. First thing I have to say is that I've always had bangs, except briefly in 2006 when I decided to grow them out -- and then I went "ack, I don't look like me anymore!" and freaked out and got them cut again. Haha! So I got quite a kick out of this week's episode. I also had pretty long hair until the end of college, when I realized that with hair as thin as mine it just isn't flattering. You can't do anything with it. Blargh. So I got a short cut. It goes between chin and shoulder length depending on how lazy I am being about getting it cut. The only thing I do to style it is put some volumizing stuff in it and blow dry it. That's about it. I am a fan of the "wash and wear" idea. As if I had time to be vain. Actually, I tend to think really high-maintenance 'dos (a.) often look funny and (b.) say something about the person which isn't applicable to me, personality-wise. Like, "if you want someone who has that priority, find someone else." Hahaha. I don't mean that in a negative way; I'm not saying there's something wrong with having that priority. It's just that I don't. Wouldn't want to engage in false advertising!

Hmm, I think the author of this web comic should be answering this question as well.
I agree.Ha ha, well, my hair is really weird. It just basically does whatever it wants. It's extremely curly (seriously, I don't know whose genes those were!), so it just kind of sticks up in odd places and generally doesn't do what I want it to. I managed to style it in the shape of an afro once by brushing it backwards... Also, if I have it tied and I remove the elastic, it keeps the shape of a ponytail for a few minutes. O____o So basically, even if I never changed my hairstyle, it would always be different because of the ever-changing texture of my hair. Cool, huh? =P Well, as it happens, I like to change my hairstyle around, so it's definitely never the same. My gym teacher has bets going on about the number of times I can change my hairstyle in the same school year. I almost never wear it down (only if I straighten it, in which case it's about twice as long as when I don't--curly, it only goes down to my shoulders), but I'll wear it in all sorts of crazy updo's. I especially like pigtails. ^_^

My hair hangs down shaggily or it's tied up in a ponytail Oh yeah, sometimes I do a ponytail or "ponytail puff", rat tail, or sumo top knot, or if I am being particularly silly, pigtails, afro puffs, or whatever you call it when you make an afro puff or pigtail at each of the four corners of the top of your head.

Interesting! So many different styles you listed there. You do have nice hair, Sho. Have seen your photos though maybe that sounds stupid cause we've never met and stuff to actually see your hair properly and yet here I am saying this, still, it looks nice and I definitely think black is a top colour of hair to have. The ponytail puff would look cool, guess you kinda have to have boofy hair like an afro type thing to get it to work with the headband. Looking on Google at the photos of the sumo top knot, the hair almost looks like some delicate porcelain ornament or something. Hehe yeah the rats tails, see how long you can get it to grow. Ivy, your pictures were lovely, you should use the 3rd one as your display pic on Facebook, hehe. The cool thing with you is you have the face to pull off whatever hairstyle you choose, which sometimes can be hard to do for people. Like some people know that they must consciously avoid a certain do cause it makes them look weird. When I had braids earlier this year they looked kinda ridiculous on me however braids are very suited to you. Do you think you will one day put a colour rinse through your hair? I mean for your own curiosity sake just as some random thing. But I think if the natural colour is good like yours then there's not a need to have to go through all the running around having to put colours through all the time, it gets to a point where it becomes such a burden, just that lots of people seem to want to do this, heh. I wonder about it sometimes whether to have a rinse and just wondered if you did too about your own hair

Hey, I missed this post. Thank you for the compliment, Blondi. As for the rat tail; I wish my stupid hair would keep growing. It seems to have settled where it is, I need some... like... herbs or something to put in it. Maybe a Vitamin E, Miracle Gro thing from over seas? I want something like a nice lion's mane that trails down my back. Which would be TEH aweshum! ;D

I don't do much with my hair. Sometimes I tie it back when I have to, and I did get a haircut to get a job once, but I've let it go wild over the last four years. Fortunately it doesn't seem to get tangled!
I think I'm still on rebound from when my parents used to encourage me to get buzzcuts at the time. Yuck. I was a much cuter kid before high school. (Not that I've ever been uncute, par se...)
I've got a couple more complicated styles I like to try, but I'm going to need it longer than just down to my lower ribs for that. I still like it as is, though. Straight, long, and like bronze in the sunlight.
I find it usually looks best when I first wake up in the morning. Go figure. I imagine it has something to do with natural conditioners.
